We don't have Halloween but we have Vesak

Halloween is a festival celebrated by many people all-around the world. But in my country I don't feel still any person celebrates Halloween or may be there are few people.Still most of the people even don't know, what Halloween is.

As it is Halloween, today I would like to write about a festival which we celebrate instead of Halloween.

Yes it is the Vesak Festival.

Vesak is considered as both religious and cultural festival because not only people in my country but also many Buddhist all around the world celebrate Vesak . 

Observe Sil

It is celebrated on the full moon day in May  and is celebrated memorizing some important events of Buddhas life which took place on the Vesak full moon day.  They are the Birth, Supreme attainment as Lord Buddha, and the Parinibbana.

To celebrate many people make different types of  lanterns to light on the Vesak day night and some make Pandols. I believe involving in such activities they practice patient. 

Freely given foods (dansal), observing sill can be considered as great activities during this time

I believe this is the best time you can experience Sri Lankan's hospitality, sharing and caring to each others.
